WHO WE ARE

The Oceanaires are an a cappella  chorus singing in the "barbershop" style.

We have been entertaining the west side of Los Angeles for over 40 years

Men and women are invited to join us and to "Keep the Whole World Singing"
 


BARBERSHOP MUSIC

Barbershop music is a style of a cappella close harmony derived from traditional quartet singing.

The melody is sung by a "lead", supported primarily by a "bass" an octave or more below the melody.  The additional harmony parts are provided by a "tenor" above the melody and a "baritone" below.

QUARTETS AND CHORUS
The Oceanaires rehearse and perform as a chorus but we also serve as the host to a number of barbershop quartets.

We are a member of the Far Western District of the Barbershop Harmony Society and participate annually in regional competitions.
